Internet for the first time more important than TV

The internet has become a more important medium than television, according to the results of a follow-up study carried out by Edison Research and Abriton. Joe Sixpack now sees the internet as the most important medium in his life, followed by television, radio and newspapers. In 2002 television and radio still were on top of the list.
Especially the younger generation between 12 and 44 years old hardly watches TV in the US. The reason is simple: you can find everything on the net, even TV-series. Important shifts in advertising spendings are to be expected, in favour of the online campaign.
In that same study about half of the interviewees said that printed newspapers in term will disappear. This extinction scenario has been predicted since many years, but in Europa we don't see any sign yet that this would be true. On the contrary, most newspaper editors are able to maintain their number of readers. In some parts of the world, such as Brasil, more newspapers are sold than ever.
